Matija Krečič – Violin
Violinist and composer Matija Krečič was born in Ljubljana in 1988. He began his musical education at the age of eight at the Vič-Rudnik music school, first with prof. Igor Oloukin, then prof. Oliver Dizdarević. In 2007, he was admitted to Carinthian State Conservatory in Klagenfurt where he studies violin under prof. Helfried Fister and composition under prof. Alfred Stingl. During his studies, he attended a number of music workshops (Primož Novšak, Helfried Fister, Igor Ozim).
In 2005, before turning seventeen, he recorded, together with pianist Gašper Banovec, a garland of Slovenian folk songs, that was written entirely by them. After its publishing, they presented the record on several recitals and festivals across Slovenia, as well as in Italy and Croatia. The project has led them to many and manifold a collaboration.
Between 2008 and 2011, he actively cooperated with Terrafolk – he was a member of the Terrafolk production and Symbolic Orchestra. He also composed and wrote arrangements for the ensembles. He plays in the Cv:B:K trio with which he wrote and recorded the music for the cartoon »Biba Malčka and the Chrismas Muddle« in 2010. He actively collaborates with Magnifico, Gal and Severa Gjurin, Symbolic Orchestra, Orkestrada and Mar Django ensembles, and plays in Escape String Quartet. He wrote the music for some short films; one was introduced at the Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož in September of 2012. In 2013, he participated in the show »Kdo si upa na večerjo?« (Who dares come to dinner?), produced by the slovenian national television. The same year, he also wrote some symphony arrangements for Magnifico, Gal Gjurin, and Siddharta.
As a composer, he has cooperated with several Slovenian ensembles: Ingenium Ensemble, APZ Alojzij Mav, PAZ Vinko Vodopivec, Mladi ljubljanski solisti, Tamburjaši, Nika Švarc and Davorin Mori …
He has never been rewarded or punished for his musical activity.
