Borut Zagoranski – Accordion

Borut Zagoranski (Classical Accordion. Ptuj, Slovenia, 1980.)is winner of prestigious  ‘Wigmore Award” organised by the Friends of the Royal Academy in 2006. As a representative of the Republic of Slovenia, he was a finalist of the competition of the Eurovision Grand Prix for Young Musicians competition in Vienna, 1998.Borut has also been a participant and a prize winner of many national and international accordion competitions.  In 2002 he graduated from the Academy of Music in Pula, Croatia, where he was also awarded the prize of the Chancellor of the University for being the best student of the Academy of Music in Pula. In 2006 he completed his postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music and graduated with a prestigious Dip Ram diploma. He studied with Slavko Magdic and Owen Murray, and with many other notable musicians and accordion professors.  He has performed at renowned international festivals for contemporary music such as ISCM World Days of Music, ISCM Musica Danubiana, Alderburg festival, Norfolk & Norwich festival. He has performed with orchestras such as ORF Symphony orchestra , London Sinfonietta, Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra.  Borut has performed in some of the world’s great concert venues, such as the Wigmore Hall in London, Konzerthause in Vienna and Berlin, Benaroya Hall in Seattle. In 2014 he became an associate member of the Royal Academy of Music in London. He works as an associate professor at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, University of Ljubljana, and at the Music Academy of the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula.
